When I founded Revby, I envisioned a consulting firm that would leverage my extensive experience in business development, sales, marketing, and team building to support small businesses. However, I was keenly aware of a common pitfall in consulting—relying solely on personal experience and opinion. While personal insights are valuable, they don't always translate effectively across diverse contexts and communities.
In my early engagements, I observed that many community-based small business owners, especially those from under-resourced and disadvantaged backgrounds, often received coaching based on hunches rather than evidence. This approach lacked the rigor and quality that larger, more resourced clients typically expect and receive. I found this disparity troubling. Every entrepreneur, regardless of their background or resources, deserves access to high-quality, evidence-based consulting.
To address this gap, I sought to ground Revby's methodologies in solid research. I enrolled in Boston College's M.S. in Leadership and Administration program, which offered a curriculum rich in research methods, data analysis, applied ethics, and project management. Additionally, the program provided comprehensive coursework in finance and accounting, digital marketing, talent management, and organizational development—areas directly aligned with the challenges small business owners face. This academic foundation became the bedrock of Revby's consulting frameworks, ensuring that our approaches are not only practical but also scientifically sound.
The insights gained from my graduate studies were systematically integrated into Revby's consulting methodologies and training programs. This ensures that all our consultants deliver consistent, on-brand experiences to our clients. By embedding research into our DNA, we've created a culture that values continuous learning and adaptation, allowing us to serve our clients effectively and ethically.
Our commitment to evidence-based consulting is not just a methodological choice; it's an ethical one. When working with diverse communities, where each business outcome can significantly impact livelihoods, it's imperative to provide support that's grounded in research and best practices. This approach ensures that our clients receive the highest standard of consulting, tailored to their unique contexts and challenges.
Being rooted in research also positions Revby to adapt proactively to the evolving business landscape. Whether it's the rise of artificial intelligence or shifts in macro and microeconomic factors, our research-driven culture enables us to stay ahead of trends and continuously evolve our competencies. This adaptability ensures that we can meet our clients' needs today and in the future.
"Rooted in Research" encapsulates Revby's dedication to delivering consulting services that are scientifically grounded, equitable, and effective. It's about more than just methodologies; it's about honoring the trust our clients place in us and ensuring that we provide them with the tools and insights they need to succeed. As we navigate an ever-changing business environment, our commitment to research and equity remains steadfast, guiding us in our mission to support every entrepreneur's journey.
